Day 16

Outside, one hour.

It has warmed to near 40 degrees, so it was time break the boredom of riding in the basement... with the spiders.  A little windy, sunny and quiet:

And salty> Sligo creek was like a Vermont back road. The salt trucks dispatched by Montgomery County ("MoCo") deposited hundreds of pounds of salt per square yard of road.  It was like a Bolivian salt mine:

...pummeling the the 0.8" of snow that we've received this month into oblivion.  MoCo gets an A for effort, and a C- for efficiency.  Sorry MoCo.

I have not ridden 16 times this year.  So, has the purpose of this effort been lived up to?  Is something smugly, naively or foolishly called a year in the saddle as success when its efforts will not sum to a year?  The answers are yes.  Before starting this series of posts, I had not ridden since July.  Now, I've ridden 8 times in twice as many days.  Not bad.

... Day 11

Basement.  35 minutes.  Two ants in the spider trap.  Evidence of spiders nearby (webs).  Patience, patience.

No riding in the last several days.  I don't know how the next several will go.  Well I hope.

Days #5, 6 and 7 (warning, lame)

Day #5 - basement... 5 minutes, yes, that's right, 5 minutes. In jeans and some svelte shearling lined slippers.  But wait, it gets even better...
Day #6 - 0 minutes
Day #7 - 0 minutes

No excuses, I simply didn't do it.  Redemption on Day #8.  Oh, and I'll provide a spider trap update for the untold millions of you who are hanging on every word of my blog.

Day #4

Basement, 35 minutes.  Read some stuff for work.  I also opened the spider traps I referenced in yesterday's post.  Here's what I found:

The print is small, so I will quote my favorite part "...spiders and homeowners have never had a working relationship."  I couldn't agree more.

Day #3

Basement, 35 minutes.    Tried reading while riding and it worked pretty well-the three strands of Christmas lights I use for lighting casting a cheery glow.  Tomorrow, I will set the spider traps my brother got me for my birthday.  Hopefully I'll soon have some interesting wildlife pictures as a result.  Fucking spiders.

Day #2

Rode in the basement again. This time for 35 minutes.  Did a couple of sprints.  2 for 2.

Listened to Pandora while riding, ATT reception is oddly perfect (all bars) in the basement.  Its only a bar or two upstairs.   Daydreamed about a workshop, being in shape, daughter not getting more colds at daycare and sleeping through the night, this weekend's fun at the aquarium, having a good week at work, etc.

I saw this on the way home from a coffee run this morning:

I thought foxes were nocturnal.  I am only partially correct.

In closing, it would be amusing if anyone but me has any interest in this blog.

Day #1

Today's ride was on the trainer in the basement.  50 minutes.  Here's the basement:

The basement is a work in progress.  There's a new pegboard for tools.  There is also trash:

Tomorrow I'll sweep that up, and ride some more.  Its not going to be that cold, so maybe outside.
